Guatape is a charming town located on the shores of the stunning Guatape Reservoir. It is famous for its brightly painted houses and its iconic rock, which we visit and climb for panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. After a nice walk in the historical centro, we go for a boat trip on the lakes, visiting the mansions of the rich and famous, including "Finca La Manuela," one of the properties owned by Pablo Escobar. La Manuela was seized by the Colombian government after Escobar's death in 1993, like many of his properties. The mansion fell into disrepair and was abandoned for many years.

Get out from the city to the colorful historical countryside of the region: we visit Santa Fé de Antioquia, the region's old capital founded in 1541 by Jorge Robledo as Villa de Santafé on the western bank of the Cauca River. Our first stop is at the Puente del Occidente, or the Old Hanging Bridge at the Cauca River, which is a remarkable testament to engineering prowess and architectural beauty, built in the late 19th century. We walk across the bridge and try the regions typical fruit, the tamarind.
Later we head to the historical center of Santa Fé: we have a walk in the old town which is a living museum, with cobblestone streets, whitewashed buildings with wooden balconies, centuries-old churches, museums, charming plazas and a picturesque main square. This private tour is for nature lovers: we leave Medellín in the morning, heading to Suroeste, southeast of Antioquia region to the beautiful village of Jardín, in the heart of coffee land! The trip takes about 3 hours crossing the Andes mountains and the Cauca river.
Jardín is known for its brightly painted houses, colorful floral displays and milk candies, the altitude is 1750 meters above sea level. We visit a traditional family coffee farm where you learn about coffee from the master himself and see the whole process from planting to drinking the delicious end product.
In the afternoon we visit the traditional paisa village of Jardín, checking out the main square, eating some local food and hanging out with the locals and enjoying the vibe. We spend the night at a farm hotel, so we will be surrounded 100% nature.

The day concludes with refreshing swims in crystal-clear rivers and waterfalls, a perfect way to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of San Rafael.
Day 3 (Optional): San Rafael to San Carlos - for those who choose to extend the trip, we journey to San Carlos, a tranquil town known for its coffee and scenic landscapes. We begin with an exhilarating horseback ride through the countryside, enjoying the fresh mountain air. Later, we visit a traditional coffee farm, where we learn about the coffee-making process from bean to cup. This optional day offers a deeper connection with the region's rich agricultural heritage and stunning natural surroundings. This road trip is a perfect blend of adventure, nature, and local culture, providing unforgettable memories of Colombia's hidden gems.
Private trip from Medellin: we pick you up at your place, we drive 2,5 hours to Cocorná region (half an hour on a dirt road in the mountains), then we hike 20 minutes in the cloud forest (a bit steep and can be muddy, be prepared).
